Aging is associated with DNA methylation changes at specific sites in the genome. Already in 2011 our group described - as one of this first worldwide - that such age-associated DNA methylation changes can be used to estimate the donor age. More recently, it has been demonstrated that accellerated epigenetic age is overall associated with shorter life expectancy and several diseases. Cygenia can perform epigenetic age predictions of human blood to determine biological age of humans.
